Aftercare & Washing Recommendations
We have put together washing instructions that apply to products sold on our website.
Aftercare is so important when it comes to synthetic and human hair products... this is how you ensure the lifespan of your purchase isn’t reduced in any way!
WIG AFTERCARE
Synthetic hair

- Before washing carefully remove all knots and tangles, pay attention to the nape of the neck and around the inside of the wig as this is where knots are most common. Use a wide tooth comb or tangle teaser.
- Fill a bowl or your sink with lukewarm water then add your synthetic hair shampoo into the water. Swill your wig in the water then rinse well, repeat this step with your synthetic conditioner. Only apply conditioner mid to ends making sure you avoid the roots and the cap. You can use mild baby shampoo and a colourless/white fabric conditioner instead of special synthetic shampoo and conditioner!
- Once your wig has been rinsed thoroughly, gently pat dry with a towel and remove any excess water.
- Leave the wig to dry naturally on a hollow wig head. They are usually named ‘collapsable wig stand’ online if you are looking to purchase one.
- The style/ curl will return once fully dry - never use heat to dry it!

- Synthetic conditioning or synthetic fibre sprays are recommended to keep your wig moisturised. You can use these daily to help prevent frizz.
- The hairline of your wig should be 4 fingers from your brow bone.
- While some synthetic hair states you can use heat, we recommend avoiding heated appliances completely as they will cause irreversible damage to your synthetic wig.
- Longer synthetic wigs will not last as long as they are more likely to rub up on clothing which causes friction frizz. We recommend 2 short wigs per year, longer ones will need to be replaced sooner.
- Never sleep in your wig, this will reduce the lifespan and cause friction frizz to happen much sooner.
- Brush regularly with a wide tooth comb or a tangle teaser.
Human Hair
W A S H I N G |
- Before washing carefully remove all knots and tangles, pay attention to the nape of the neck and around the inside of the wig as this is where knots are most common. Use a wide tooth comb or tangle teaser.
- With lukewarm water, dampen your wig before using a sulphate free shampoo. Smooth the shampoo down your wig, never rub as this will cause matting, then rinse thoroughly.
- Apply the conditioner in the same way but from mid to ends, avoid the roots as conditioner will get stuck in the cap.
- Once all product is rinsed out, pat your wig with a towel to remove excess water, never rub to dry.
- Partially dry your wig before brushing as human hair is more delicate when wet, always start brushing at the bottom and work your way up.
- Use heat protectant and a hair dryer on medium heat to fully dry the hair. Always straighten after washing to realign the cuticles and keep the hair smooth.

- Brush your wig regularly especially at the nape of your neck and around the cap as this is where will need detangling the most. Use a soft bristle brush/ extension brush as a regular hairbrush will snag on the hair. Use a wide tooth comb to brush out curls for a bouncy look!
- You can use heated appliances on human hair wigs to dry and style, never use more than 180 degrees and always use heat protectant.
- Use hair accessories to make your wig look more natural!
- Hair masks, hair oils and any nourishing products you would use on your own hair will also benefit your human hair wig. It can not produce natural oils so you should use products to keep it feeling healthy and smooth
